On the move along the border, to escape the… african heat
Mugello has always been a land of borders. And of battles to defend them. Of walls, but also of bridges that have linked Tuscany to Emilia and Romagna, along the various routes these regions have historically followed. With exchanges of goods, food, recipes, cultures, crafts and traditions. Exchanges and cross-fertilisation that were at times abruptly interrupted by furious wars. Roads built to unite, and castles and villages erected to control and exploit them. A unique treasure trove, travelled by kings, poets, painters and merchants, and now cherished by motorcyclists and cyclists. Beautiful places that follow the Apennine ridge, rich in stunning landscapes, with both wild and well-tended woods offering breathtaking views. Ideal during these sweltering days, to experience the cool of the woods, with temperatures almost 10° lower than in the valley floor, whilst enjoying lush nature and history at every turn.
A journey along the border, where history, traditions, flavours and views are inextricably linked, from the foothills of Calvana to the Casentino Forest Park.
