Croce dei Sette Santi
FotoIn the municipality of Vaglia, where nature and history intertwine in a timeless embrace. Here, among the hills that separate the Mugnone valley from that of the Sieve, stands a place full of spirituality and tradition: the Cross of the Seven Saints. This landmark is not only a religious symbol but also represents a natural watershed between two watersheds: that of the Sieve river and that of the Mugnone. Its strategic position has made the Cross of the Seven Saints a point of reference for travelers and pilgrims over the centuries. This cross, placed on a stone base, recalls that it was here that the Seven Saints, according to tradition the founders of the Monte Senario convent and the Order of the Servants of Mary, stopped to rest on May 31, 1234. Coming from Florence, they were on their way to the mountain to begin a hermitic life. The cross stands at a meeting point between the path coming from Poggio Capanne and the paved road, Via di Montesenario. This same path is part of the famous Via degli Dei, the route that connects Bologna to Florence through the Apennines.
