Chini Museo
FotoUpstairs in the prestigious Villa Pecori Giraldi, the new exhibition path of the Chini Museum takes shape. Inside, visitors will find a permanent collection dedicated to the artistic history of Galileo Chini and his family. The journey, naturally beginning with the display of masterpieces created for the Art of Ceramics, continues with a dense narrative of Galileo Chini's artistic genius. In addition to the works and ceramic pieces from the San Lorenzo Furnaces, the artistic media used by the Artist are also highlighted. Villa Pecori Giraldi, built on the site of an ancient Giraldi construction, became the property of Count Pecori in 1748, who added the name of the ancient owners to his own. In 1979, the Pecori Giraldi family donated the building to the municipality of Borgo San Lorenzo. The facade is Renaissance in style, while the decorations inside and the Chini Museum hosted here are a lively testament to the Liberty style brought to Mugello by the family. The rooms are frescoed by members of the Chini family, from Pietro Alessio to Galileo, with geometric and floral motifs and paintings imitating medieval styles. Noteworthy is the decorative cycle depicting St. George in the reception hall. The exhibition of ceramic pieces, objects, stoneware vases, and rare polychrome stained glass is highly impactful.
