Az. agr. Terre di Giotto
FotoTerre di Giotto is located in Gattaia (although the cellar is in torva at Pesciola), in the municipality of Vicchio del Mugello, in the Tuscan Apennines, thanks to the passion and vision of Michele Lorenzetti. After graduating in biology, Michele enrolled in an oenology course and discovered the profound distance between the world of conventional viticulture and his ideals, finding in biodynamics a natural application of his scientific beliefs. In 2006, he identified the ideal lands and planted his first vineyard, at an altitude ranging from 500 to 600 meters. The clay-limestone soils with the presence of sandstones and schists are perfect for a biodynamic approach that recovers the historical experience of the territory, where Marquis Vittorio degli Albizi had introduced varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Pinot Noir, and Riesling, before the phylloxera destroyed the vineyards. The company extends over 3 hectares of vineyards managed according to biodynamic principles, with a winemaking process that involves spontaneous fermentations in steel tanks and buried amphorae, without temperature control, filtrations, or clarifications. The result is a production of authentic and natural wines, reflecting the character of the territory and Michele Lorenzetti's philosophy.
