Borgo Macereto
FotoThe Macereto Agricultural Company, located on the hills that separate Mugello and Valdisieve in the municipality of Dicomano, covers an area of about 20 hectares, of which 6 are dedicated to vineyards, 3 to olive groves, and the remaining divided between meadows and deciduous forest. The agricultural reality was born in 2014 when the Foscarini family acquired the estate and decided to dedicate a significant portion of it to viticulture. From the beginning, the intention was clear: to produce high-quality wines following the principles of organic farming, respecting the tradition and the unique characteristics of the territory. The first steps were to recover the original 3 hectares planted with Sangiovese and Gamay, and subsequently, in 2016, to plant new vines of Pinot Noir, as well as a selection of aromatic white varieties such as Riesling, Incrocio Manzoni, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier, which bring freshness, elegance, and originality to the production. However, Sangiovese remains the fundamental grape variety, the heart of the production of Chianti Rufina wines, for which the company is an integral part of the area. The company's philosophy focuses on quality, with an approach oriented towards low productivity to obtain wines characterized by high quality levels. The vine training is carried out according to the methods of spur pruning and Guyot, with planting systems designed to promote nutrient concentration and grape quality. The Macereto Agricultural Company continues to enhance the value of Sangiovese, while at the same time experimenting with new fermentation and aging techniques to evolve and expand its production with original and high-value products. Each bottle is the result of a meticulous and nature-respecting process, blending the tradition of Chianti Rufina and innovation, offering wines that tell the story of the territory and the passion for agricultural and winemaking work of the Foscarini family.
