The hamlet of Santa Lucia, in the municipality of Barberino, is a place full of charm and history, nestled among the Tuscan hills. The village, named after Saint Lucia of Syracuse, a symbol of light and hope, stands out for its natural beauty and historical heritage that dates back to the past, especially during the period of the Italian Risorgimento. This landscape, framed by the mountains of Mugello, has always attracted travelers and continues to be a place of great interest. An episode that marked the history of Santa Lucia is the passage of Giuseppe Garibaldi. During his journey towards the unification of Italy, the hero of the two worlds stopped at one of the local inns, where he refreshed himself, welcoming the hospitality of the local people. Among the illustrious guests of the historic inn in the hamlet, Garibaldi who stopped to refresh himself at the then Santa Lucia all'Ostale: the table where the patriot ate is still present, and in his memory, a plaque and a tombstone have been placed on the main facade of the inn.
