Casa d'Erci
FotoThe Museum of Peasant Civilization at Casa d'Erci is located in Grezzano, a hamlet of the municipality of Borgo San Lorenzo, in the heart of Mugello. This museum was created with the aim of preserving and enhancing the memory of the ancient peasant world of the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. The idea of creating a museum dedicated to peasant life took shape in 1976, following the organization of a small exhibition of agricultural tools and rural life objects in Luco di Mugello. Two years later, in 1978, the Gruppo d'Erci was established, a non-profit volunteer association, with the aim of collecting and preserving documents and testimonies of peasant life. In collaboration with the Municipality of Borgo San Lorenzo and the Mountain Community, the association obtained the management of the farm complex "Il Casino", where the museum was set up. The museum is housed in an old farmhouse located on the banks of the Erci stream, within the regional agricultural-forestry complex of Giogo-Casaglia, an area of great environmental and naturalistic value. Inside, there is a rich collection of materials and tools documenting life and work in the old peasant and rural world of Mugello. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum carries out educational and laboratory activities, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditions and crafts of the past, thus contributing to the preservation and dissemination of the rural culture of the area.
