The exhibition documents the main archaeological findings of western Mugello over the long period ranging from prehistory to the modern era, featuring evidence from Etruscan and Roman times, and concluding with a significant selection of medieval artifacts recovered during the investigations on the castles in the municipal territory of Scarperia. The exhibition path is divided into two rooms. The first room showcases, with mostly original flint artifacts from the Mugello area, the human presence in various prehistoric periods, from the Lower Paleolithic to the Bronze Age. In addition to the original flint tools, the exhibition is enriched by an evocative didactic apparatus, with hunting scenes, three-dimensional dioramas, and more, which enhance the understanding of the prehistoric era. A special display case houses reconstructions with natural materials of complete tools with wooden supports (handles): hoes, sickles, knives, clubs, scrapers, and so on, which visitors are invited to touch and handle for a more engaging experience. The other rooms document the Etruscan period (boundary stone, stele, ceramics) and the Roman period (bricks and ceramics, including a particular jar called "glirarium" where dormice were raised, a delicacy for the Romans).
